I was inspired by various books of "Star Wars The New Jedi Order". For this fan art I have chosen only these characters: Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade, Kyle Katarn, Kyp Durron, Exar Kun and Yuuzhan Vong. I hope you like it
It’s not surprising that he left out the fact that Exar Kun was the one who corrupted him, forced to him to kill… and comparing him to Magneto??? That’s new one and a new low for Kyp Durron hates… the crimes Magneto has done and continues to do, Kyp would have to live for another 60 years with a completely different personality to even come close to him…
It’s disappointing that just about every Kyp Durron fan art or picture that he’s in… this keeps getting brought up, but characters like Vader get a free pass…
I like your take on the Yuuzhan Vong. I'd love to see Corran Horn as well. Michael Stackpole created an awesome character with Corran. Do you focus on the post ROTJ novels? I just finished The Fate of the Jedi series.
All these characters are cool, especially Kyp Durron. Kyp is such an interesting figure of a human, considering he is one of Skywalker's first students but also the most corruptible. Still, he matures a bit in the New Jedi Order saga and it's interesting to see how he goes from brash, volatile firebrand to cooperative warrior on Luke's side. When they (Luke and Kyp) argue about how to deal with the Yuuzhan Vong, it kind of reminds me of the everyday battle between the mutants and the humans in X-Men. Kyp could be likened to Malcolm X and Magneto, while Luke could be likened to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Professor X. I only say that because Kyp is more militant and easily angered with a zero tolerance for injustice. Luke, on the other hand, is more calm and reserved, and hopes to be friends with the enemy, as tough as they might be for the little war.
Luke killed a TON of Yuuzha Vong in NJO, he's the best Jedi ever! Although, yes he does have a different demeanor, but such is with a Jedi Master! He slayed the Overlord of the Vong is spectacular fashion, I think his name was Shimraa?
Yes, it was Shimrra. I really hope the publishers at Del Rey do an Star Wars Essential Guide to the Yuuzhan Vong. Even though I've read all nineteen novels and some of the comics of the Dark Horse series Invasion, I still feel that the Yuuzhan Vong are mysterious. That Yuuzhan Vong essential guide should have a timeline of the events relevant to the species, their important beings such as Nom Anor and Shimrra, detailed descriptions of all their organic and living weapons, tools and ships, as well as their caste system and deities. Who else thinks that is a fantastic idea?
Looks to me like you've put Luke in his dad's Jedi outfit from Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, and given him his father hair [before it got all burned off after his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi].
